Fournee Bakery is a lovely addition to the Berkeley bakery scene. Its made its home in the old Bread Garden space.
The pizza here is more like a flatbread. The chard along with the onions give this slice a nice sweetness.
The other slice option was the ham. Super thin slices of rich tasting ham made it seem like Thanksgiving was still being celebrated.
I absolutely loved the earthy mushrooms and the ricotta pairing in this tart, which says a lot since I don't generally lean towards ricotta items.
I can never say no to a canele. These French pastries seem to be getting more popular. Not as custardy on the inside as most of the caneles I've had, but I really enjoyed the crispy crust.
Kouign Amounn is another favorite pastry of mine and I was quite excited to see both of my newly favorite pastries under one roof. The crust had a nice crispy caramelized exterior to it.
