Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia

Pin It Now!
Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia is the Hai Ky Mi Gia (see post HERE) of the Sunset.  There are the awesome things that set this place apart from Hai Ky Mi Gia:  free soybean milk, no MSG, and best of all, its not in the Tenderloin so it opens till 9p.  So when you have a craving for braised duck noodle at night, you can hop on by to Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia (TNKMG), the other duck noodle place.
Free soybean milk!  Its sweet and comes to your table hot.  Delicious!

Lots of condiments to dress your noodles from jalapenos, hoisin, vinegar, and chili sauce.

The side of crunchy, pickled vegetables comes with each order.  The sweetness and tanginess really helps with the oily noodles.  The pickled jalapenos were a nice touch and something different from the plate of pickled vegetables that Hy Ky Mi Gia has.
If you order your noodles dry, the broth decorated with cilantro comes on the side.

#7 (braised duck leg with egg noodle and won ton) is the one closest to the duck noodles I get at TL's Hai Ky Mi Gia, except that it comes with the thin egg noodles.  To get the thick egg noodles (pictured), you have to specially request for them.  Even though there was no MSG, the flavor was still outstanding.  Not exactly as good as Hai Ky Mi Gia, but it does have cleaner taste and feeling after you finish it.  The meat on the duck leg does fall off the bone and is quite tender.

Normally I don't like to add anything to my noodles, but this noodle dish is made to be customized. My system is I like to add as much chili as possible, some jalapenos, and a couple spoonfuls of broth, mix, then eat a couple spoonfuls.  Repeat.
